The MyGoldMine Dashboard, first appearing in GoldMine 6.0, provides us with a fresh canvass on which to put just about anything we can dream of… Quotas, yep, past due activities, yep, stats on calls, appointments, etc, yep! It takes a little programming to be sure but it’s well worth it.
One of my favorite items to put on my MyGoldMine is the weather forecast from Yahoo!. As a bonus, this requires NO programming! First we need to be logged into GoldMine as a user with Master Rights then open up MyGoldMine by chosing View | MyGoldMine. Then in the upper right click Personalize Content.
The first screen there determines the layout. To be honest, the default Page Style is pretty awful but changing it to Windows makes a big improvement. But enough of this, let’s get to content so go ahead and click on the Content tab. You can add it to either column you’d like there. Then click Add then we’re going to add a entirely new feed of information so click Add Resource. Note, you have to have master right’s to add a brand new resource.
Go ahead and fill in the Title with something like, well, “Yahoo! Weatherâ€. Now, we need to get the RSS URL. That’s just where we go to grab the data for this feed. So open up a web browser and head over to http://weather.yahoo.com/ and find your city. Once your weather forecast pops up you’ll see an orange RSS feed button. Go ahead and do a Right-Click | Copy Shortcut on it.
OK Cool! Now just paste that into the RSS URL space then click OK. You’ll now be back on the Select Resource to add screen. Double-click on the new Yahoo! Weather. Click OK and voila!

I have tried this on several RSS feeds and It will not work. Could there be something blocked within Goldmine that won't allow it to read?
