New version of the software wirelessly synchronizes data with BlackBerry®, Windows Mobile®, and Palm OS® mobile devices

January 30, 2008, Portland, Ore. – CompanionLink Software, a leader in mobile synchronization solutions, released a wireless synchronization solution for BlackBerry, Windows Mobile and Palm OS mobile devices. The CompanionLink Professional software package has an option to wirelessly synchronize information with leading CRM and contact management solutions and the latest web-enabled mobile devices. This allows business professionals to access and update their CRM contacts, schedules, and notes from anywhere.

The software synchronizes data with ACT! by Sage, FrontRange GoldMine, IBM Lotus Notes, Novell GroupWise, Time & Chaos, Google Apps, Microsoft Outlook, and Palm Desktop databases. Contacts, appointments, notes and histories, opportunities, tasks and to-do lists, user-defined fields, and activities can be synchronized in two ways: wired sync or wireless sync. Wired synchronization requires the mobile device to be docked to the computer using, for example, a USB cable. Wireless synchronization allows data to go from the CRM database to the user's mobile device using CompanionLink Software's wireless synchronization service. CRM data is synchronized with the built-in data fields in the mobile device.

GoldMine’s alarms are great for reminding you of a pending call, appointment or other activity that needs to be done.

Turning an alarm on for a particular activity is pretty easy,  check the alarm button when scheduling an activity.

With a  small tweak to our <<username.ini>> file, we can set GoldMine to automatically turn the alarm on for certain activities.
First, open your <<username.ini>> file, e.g. “chad.ini”, this will be found where GoldMine is installed.

Next, find the [GMAlarm] Section.

We’re going to add a new line just after [GMAlarm], “OnByDefault=”.

Following the "=" sign, should be activity types you want the alarm automatically turned on for…

A – Appointment
C – Call Back
D – To-Do
E – Event
M – Message
O – Other
Q – Queued Email
S – Forecasted Sale
T – Next Action

So if we wanted to have the alarms turned on automatically for calls, appointments and next actions we’d use:

Here are three simple SQL Queries to give you an answer!

First, go to Lookup | SQL Queries or Go To | Filters & Groups | SQL Queries Tab in GoldMine Premium Edition.  Copy and paste the queries into the top half of the screen then click the Query button.

 
For a count of primary contacts:

Select count(*) from contact1  

For a count of secondary contacts:

Select count(*) from contsupp where rectype = 'C'

For a count of history records:

Select count(*) from conthist
