Moving History Activity from One Contact to Another

Perhaps you logged an appointment or call to the wrong contact.

Or, you want to move an email from the person you received the email from, perhaps a colleague person, to who the email was about, a customer or prospect.

Regardless of the reason, from time to time, you’ll want to move a history activity from one contact to another.

First, edit the activity by Right-Clicking on it from the History tab and choosing Edit

(Note: this works on GoldMine 6.7 and below, we'll do another post for GoldMine Premium Edition).

Now, leave that activity open, move it out of the way if necessary, and lookup the contact you want to move the history record to.

Notice, I now have PGM Corp. up, and in the lower-left of the history entry that we have open there’s a Check Box in the lower-left.  If you check it, this will re-link the entry to Scott Pick of PGM Corp from Hoby Stechild.

Edit Box

Check the “Link To” then update the Contact name field as well, if necessary.  Even if you leave the contact listed as-is, the history record will be under the contact you check the Link to for.

When I right click and edit.

GM doesn't allow me to click anywhere besides on the activity that i opened. I have to finish editing that activity, therefore I can't lookup the contact i want to connect too.

any help with this?

Vanessa:

Hi There!

First question... was hoping you could help. Moving history works fine, but how do we copy history? We have a lot of instances where we send the same email or same type of phone call to several contacts. We just can't figure out a way to copy and paste the history we leave for one on all of them. Is there a way to "Link" without it deleting it from the first contact?

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks!!
